Things I wish I had time to do would be to invest more time in my photography. Time learning new processes, new techniques, new everything. I do believe that you have to be ever evolving to keep up. I think that it is that way with everything really. Knowledge is power!
I am glad that my photography is not the head tilted cheese. I strive to make it exciting, fresh and new. Something that this little ole town ain't use to! Everyone wants to be exciting right? I understand that those "cheese" portraits are popular and necessary for some but is it necessary for everyone?
I have 3 huge canvases hanging in my living room. One of my daughter laughing so hard you can see the crinkle in her nose, one of my other daughter smiling so big her eyes almost disappear and one of Rachel looking tough with her softball gear, hat on backwards, with her game face on. There are a few portraits hanging through the home of Rachel showing the stage of herself at that age, throwing up the peace sign, wearing her sunglasses, giving a funny look and some of Cameron just being herself, plain silly!
I don't know about you but these definitely tell more about my children than Rachel and Cameron dressed in white dresses (which they never wear) staring at a book or hands cupped under their face with this dazed grin on their face. That's not my children!
Lets take a portrait of you burning those white shirts! Just kidding. Break out of the norm. Show you! Not the you that you think you should show. Its ok, I promise.
Even if I am not the one to take your portraits tell your photographer your bringing your drum sticks to the session or you want some made with the hat that you feel extra cool in when you wear it. I bet they will love it! Really want to see them grin? Tell them you want to trash a dress or tell them they have full reign. Not many people want the not so norm portraits. I am so glad my clients do...Until then
Keep Rockin
