I am realizing that I am getting older. Older as in at that stage when I thought my mom was ancient. I slather on the face cream at night and during the day, I see my hair starting to thin out and I wear out so easily. I really feel it when I photograph young families or clients and they say yes mam. I do embrace my age though. I realize more and more each day that each day is a gift and I should absorb every hour, every opportunity, every new experience. I think one of the things I love about my job more than anything is meeting the people I do. Everyone has a story. Everyone has experienced something different than I have. Maybe they are older or younger but I enjoy talking and listening to my clients. You never really know a person until you listen.
I have blogged about listening before but its not just the listening, it is the getting to know. I have met some great people just by listening and had so many new opportunities just by being social and willing to meet new people.
The other day I carried my daughter to the grocery store with me and she walked the whole time with her head down. (I have blogged about that before too) I halted the cart and asked her why she was holding her head down and she said she really didnt realize she was. So we had a little fun. I told her to greet everyone we passed and smile. Her face was red as a beet when we were finished and we got some his back but not many. Maybe they are in a shell too.
Hold you head high, listen and be happy with who you are. Who YOU are. Smile at the next person you meet and get to know a stranger (not the ones lurking in the alley ways). You never know how many wonderful people are walking this earth with you.
How about some Grand Funk Railroad to wrap this up? You may thank me for the jam...Until then
Keep Rockin
